When I woke up this Monday morning it was raining cats and dogs here in New York, I was jet-lagged, hadn’t really slept all night and by the time we arrived at Lincoln Center one of our umbrellas had been stolen, there was no time left to have breakfast and my hair was a total mess. But all of this was forgotten the moment I entered the Mathieu Mirano Fall 2013 presentation.
Described briefly, what I saw were classic silhouettes with an unexpected, always eye-catching twist; the dominant colours being nude and black. Sleek-haired models with minimal make-up presented interesting and very intriguing creations, the young designer clearly playing with different textures, materials and structures. Beautiful matching jewellery was designed by Bliss Lau.
While loving almost everything that was shown, from three-dimensional neoprene embroidery on a delicate tulle gown to asymmetrical organza insets in a fox fur coat and nude beaver fur boots, the designs that really caught my eye included a floor-length multicoloured sequin dress and a pair of sparkly stingray boots. Feminine and playful, yet elegant and sophisticated.
Now tell me, do you like the collection? What are your favourite designs?
